Criminal and Civil Investigations – Litigation Support
Ross-Graham
Investigations, LLC offers professional, objective
interviews of witnesses on behalf of criminal defense attorneys,
personal injury attorneys, and other trial lawyers. The investigators
are experienced in reviewing police reports and can assist the attorneys
as they peruse these and related reports, including witness statements,
forensic reports and other documents.
Such reviews often result in the discovery of possible witnesses
who were overlooked during the official inquiry. Or, the agency
may identify witnesses who were not thoroughly interviewed and may
have valuable information.
The investigators have received training in Statement
Analysis, and can sometimes identify areas of possible deception.
Or, they can confirm that a witness statement is probably truthful.
Many attorneys prefer to conduct their own interviews. One possible
drawback to this practice occurs when a witness provides new, relevant
information that could be used in the upcoming court proceedings.
The attorney might now have become a witness. If so, the
attorney is then ethically obligated to defer from trying the case.
Thus, it is often preferable to have an investigator conduct the
interviews. The investigators have been trained and are experienced
in interviewing techniques. They are also skilled in providing
courtroom testimony. The investigators will provide neat, accurate
reports documenting their investigations and interviews. Often,
the investigators will provide photographic documents that will
further enhance their reports.
Sometimes witnesses being sought for interview or trial can become
elusive. Or, they might have moved to an unknown or distant location.
Our investigators have many resources available to assist them in
locating these witnesses.
Thus, for these reasons and more, many accomplished attorneys and
law firms choose to employ experienced investigators to perform
these tasks. This allows the attorneys to concentrate their efforts
in the area of “lawyering”, which is what they do best.
